Animals are taken to the South Saint Paul Animal Hospital when an owner can't be found. They can be reached by phone at 651-455-5897.
Where to get a License
Dog licenses may be purchased at City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (excluding official holidays). In order to obtain a license you must provide proof of a current rabies vaccination from your veterinarian.

City code requires dogs over six months of age to be licensed. Licenses expire every other year on April 30 and are issued in odd-numbered years. Licenses can be purchased beginning 60 days prior to May 1st. Licenses for the 2017-2019 period are available for purchase now at City Hall.
The cost of a license is $20 if the dog is unaltered and $12 if the dog is altered.
Proof of a current rabies vaccination from your veterinarian is required to obtain a dog license.
City code prevents Inver Grove Heights residents from keeping more than three dogs at a time. A kennel license is required for four or more dogs over six months of age. Applications for a kennel license may be obtained at City Hall or by calling 651-450-2513. Cats are not subject to licensing, but the city does encourage you to have your cat vaccinated for rabies.
Dogs must be under owner control at all times. A dog must be on a leash no longer than six feet, or restrained by voice commands.

The City of Inver Grove Heights Police Department responds to animal control complaints and issues. In general, the City does not respond to issues related to wild animals.
