Why Become a Commissioner
If you are looking to become more active in your city becoming a commissioner is a great way to get involved. The City has several commissions: Parks and Recreation Commission, Environmental Commission, Planning Commission and Housing Commission, Commissions meet at a variety of different times once per month or twice a month for the Planning Commission. Go to the Commission page for information on commission meeting dates and times.
As a Commissioner you will apply your knowledge of the community and expertise in specific areas to help advise the city council and city staff on projects, programs, budgets, city code and more. The Planning Commission is unique in that it is governed by state law. Its major responsibility is drafting the comprehensive plan. The next comprehensive plan is due in 2018. For more information on what a Planning Commission is responsible for please go to www.lmc.org or contact our Planning Department.
