Paper Shredding Events
Confidential Material Shredding
Do you have confidential material that you would like to have shredded? Instead of shredding at home, bring your materials to a community shred event or a retail location that shreds for you. This will ensure your personal information stays secure and your paper gets recycled.
IGH Community Shred Events
The City of Inver Grove Heights hosts two community shred events that provide free confidential document shredding to Inver Grove Heights residents. Stop by to have your confidential material shredded and recycled by a secure onsite shredding truck.
Please remove all 3-ring binders, binder clips or metal tabs on file folders from the items you bring. A professional shredding company will collect your confidential documents in secure bins and will transport them to an onsite shredding truck. Events will take place rain or shine.
- IGH Spring Shred Event: IGH City Hall Parking Lot (8150 Barbara Ave). Sat., May 30, 2020 from 9am - Noon.
- IGH Annual Clean Up Day: IGH City Hall Parking Lot (8150 Barbara Ave). Sat., Sept. 19, 2020 from 8am - Noon.
Items to shred: To find a list of confidential documents to shred, please review this guide.
Items not to shred: Paper without secure information (such as magazines, holiday cards, catalogs, etc.) should not be shredded. Instead, you can drop non-confidential documents in your home recycling cart or bring them to the Recycling Zone (3365 Dodd Road, Eagan) for free. The Recycling Zone accepted items list can be found here.
Permanent Shredding Sites
To find local companies that provide shredding services year round, visit the Green Guide and search confidential material. Please note fees vary by business and already shredded paper is not accepted at these locations.
Already shredded paper
If shredding at home, keep this out of your recycling cart. With new technology, shredded paper causes problems at recycling sorting facilities and often does not get recycled. Instead, put your shredded paper in a paper bag and drop off at The Recycling Zone. Please note The Recycling Zone only accepts shredded paper and does not provide shredding services.
