New Community Development DirectorThe City of Inver Grove Heights has hired Janice Gundlach for the Community Development Director position. The current Community Development Director, Tom Link will be retiring in August after more than 32 years with the City.
Janice has over 16 years of community development experience. She began her career as a City Planner and through the years her responsibilities have expanded into economic development, progressively taking on more complex projects and advancing to leadership roles in her department and within the economic development area locally. Janice has been working for the City of New Brighton for over 12 years where she is the Assistant Director of Community Assets & Development/Planning Director. One of her biggest accomplishments was being the project manager for a 100-acre brownfield redevelopment project known as the New Brighton Exchange.Janice is excited to transition her career to the City of Inver Grove Heights and she is looking forward to the new challenges that come with a larger, growing, urban/rural community that is enhancing its economic development efforts.
Janice has indicated her first objective with her new position as Community Development Director will be learning as much as she can about the community. She values input from residents, Commissioners, and Council members. Janice is also eager to get to know the people she'll work with, both the city organization and the large community. Janice is very proud of the relationships she's built in her current position, which have fostered a positive, fun, and collaborative working environment. Janice has an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Minnesota, is married, and has an11-year-old son.
