Municipal Elections
Inver Grove Heights holds municipal elections on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in even numbered years. This year because of a religious holiday the general election will be on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.  Primary elections, held for State and Federal Elections, are held the first Tuesday after the second Monday in August, August 9th. Inver Grove Heights holds municipal primary elections when the number of candidates is more than twice the number of individuals to be elected.

The city’s five elected officials include a mayor (two-year term) and four council members (four-year term). The terms of council members are staggered so only two council members are elected every other year.

Early Voting
New!  Absentee Voting without Envelope (early voting)

New this year is the implementation of Absentee Voting without an Envelope which allows the voter to complete and cast your ballot starting seven (7) days before the Election.  The voter is required to complete an absentee ballot application and a voter certificate.  If the voter is not registered the voter must complete a registration application.  Once complete, the voter will be able to vote by ballot and cast the ballot into the election equipment tabulator just like on Election Day.

This goes into effect on November 1, 2016 through November 4, 2016, 8:00am-4:30pm.  Extended hours are Saturday, November 5, 2016 10:00am-3:00pm and Monday, November 7, 2016 8:00am-5:00pm.  The location is Inver Grove Heights City Hall, 8150 Barbara Ave.
