The Inver Grove Heights Fire Department proudly provides our community with quality, professional firefighting, emergency medical, and rescue service. Our highly-skilled staff now consists of a full-time Fire Chief, a full-time Fire Marshal, a part-time Clerical position and over sixty paid-on-call firefighters. 

Our firefighters come from all walks of life. We have carpenters and electricians, nurses and paramedics, managers, computer programmers, correctional officers and the list goes on. Each firefighter brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the department.

We pride ourselves on having a highly-trained department. Our newly-hired firefighters participate in a rigorous training program over their first two years of employment. All of our firefighters, regardless of their experience, participate in weekly training exercises, learning new skills and keeping current on existing skills.
