Mississippi River Regional Trail in Inver Grove Heights Schedule Change:

For some time, Dakota County has been working to identify the preferred alignment for a portion of the Mississippi River Regional Trail in Inver Grove Heights.  On May 19^th the County and City hosted a open house to review alternative alignments in the vicinity of Cahill Avenue and Inver Grove Trail.  At this meeting it was announced that the next steps in the public review process included a presentation at the June 9^th Inver Grove Heights Park and Recreation Commission and at the June 14^th City Council.  Presentations to the Commission and Council have now been postponed until July 14^th and July 26^th respectively. 

At the May 19^th open house, a potential new alignment for about 2000 feet of trail was suggested.  To fully explore the feasibility of this alignment Dakota County needs to engage landowners new to the process, survey the route, research records and so on.  This cannot be finished by June 9^th and so a one month postponement is necessary.  At the July 14^th Park and Recreation Commission a thorough review of the potential new alignment is expected to be presented.
